Kruger's newsprint mill at
Corner Brook
Pulp chips produced
from sawmill residues
The newsprint industry consists of a newsprint mill, Corner Brook Pulp & Paper Limited
, owned by Kruger at Corner Brook.
The mill uses a thermo-mechanical pulping(TMP) process to manufacture 250,000 metric tones of newsprint which is exported to the United States and other European markets.
The mill utilizes balsam fir and black spruce roundwood from the forest in it's production process as well as sawmill residues in the form of chips from the local sawmills.
In addition to wood fiber, small amounts of recycled newspapers and other papers are also used.
